My Evolving Journey
My Evolving Journey began a few years ago when I felt like I was in a rut and stuck in the same routine day in and day out. As you can imagine, I began desiring something exciting and fulfilling for my life. Travel was something I always wanted to do, but never thought I had enough money or time to do. I talked to a friend who traveled alone and she encouraged me to not let fear get in the way of my dreams. I began watching a ton of inspiring videos of other solo travelers, before I knew it I was booking my first solo trip to explore 3 national parks across the country. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life. I was in disbelief that I managed to complete a 10 day trip by myself. Since then, I have taken 10 solo trips, with two of those trips being out of the country.
Such travels teach you so much about yourself. You learn to overcome your fears, challenge yourself, and you learn to creatively problem solve as you are alone on the adventures. I can't tell you how many times I found myself in an unfamiliar place where something didn't work out as planned. It was those moments I learned to figure it out because there was no other option. Those are the moments that become the most memorable. The moments in which I learned my full potential. I become hooked. Hooked on the thrill, excitement, and the fulfillment those experiences provided me.
Another way I focused on evolving was by changing the way I felt about myself. I was in a point in my life, I didn’t feel the greatest about my personal weight and health. I noticed it more when I took pictures. That feeling was not sitting right with me. Over the past 15 years, I had tried to keep a consistent workout schedule but failed every time. I was the heaviest I had ever been, and I became determined to lose the weight I hadn’t been able too before. Again, I turned to watching inspiring videos for motivation. I knew I had to become a morning “gym girly” because I would never keep consistent routine going in the evenings. I started my workout journey on a Wednesday in the middle of September and have been consistent ever since. I can say it's not easy and becomes a daily mental battle. Consistency turns into a habit and habits turn into lifestyle. I started reading more books and listening to podcasts, I started seeking other ways to fill my time and trying to be more productive. I started organizing my life, getting my house in order, and establishing financial goals, as well. I was determined to change my situation for the better. I committed to new daily routines in every aspect of my life and I began setting personal boundaries. I was determined that my journey would be holistic touching every part of my life.
The most difficult part of this Journey is that you may lose people along the way. Some will support you and others won’t. Some will be of help as you elevate you and some won't. Most of my days were spent in isolation. Feelings of depression were up and down for me. There were moments I cried for days and couldn't get out of bed. Through all of it, I tried to remain focused to find my reasons to live, reasons to keep going. It’s in those dark days you learn to battle and push through. These difficult moments change and challenge you just as the positive and exciting times do. Through it all, you learn to develop and grow, because that is what it means to evolve.
